Newsletter July 2014: What’s On
July 17, 2014If you’re spending time in London over the summer, make sure you head to Tate Modern to catch their retrospective of Kasimir Malevich’s work. For more geometric art, pop into the Royal Academy’s ‘Radical Geometry’ show – it is a crash-course in South American abstraction, so is top of our list! Taken from the Cisneros collection, it features the revolutionary Latin American artists who were directly influenced by Malevich.
If you feel like experimenting, join the queues at The Serpentine Gallery to see Marina Abramovic‘s perfomance, 512 hours, in the silent gallery space she has made her temporary home until August 25th.
The Imperial War Museum reopens this Saturday after a £40 million transformation, and to mark the centenary of the First World War, they are hosting the largest exhibition of British First World War art for almost 100 years. It is free entry and open until 8th March 2015.
For a breath of fresh air and a chance to bask in the English sun, head up north to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Having been newly crowned the museum of the year YSP is currently hosting works by Ai Weiwei and Ursula von Rydingsvard.
And finally, looking ahead to September, make a note in your diaries that the hotly anticipated first major retrospective of Anselm Keifer’s work is coming to the Royal Academy, opening on 27th, followed in October by the National Gallery’s Rembrandt exhibition, ‘The Final Years’.
